- ENGLISH -Ivo Haun grew up in Brazil and moved to Basel (Switzerland) in 2010. In 2015 he finished his Master's degree in Early Music singing at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under the guidance of Gerd Türk, complementing this thereafter with instruction from Richard Levitt.
His main areas of interest are the virtuosic singing style of the Renaissance and Early Baroque periods, the practice of improvisation (including improvised counterpoint), historical acting techniques, rhetoric and its application to musical performance, the historical pronunciation of European languages and Latin, and the use of original notation in music ranging from the 14th to the 17th century. Also a lutenist, Ivo has in recent years started performing accompanying himself. He is the winner of the Bovicelli Prize of the Bovicelli Competition 2020 (Schloss Weissenbrunn) and has taught historical improvisation at the Ex Tempore Festival (Leipzig), Festival de Musique Improvisée de Lausanne and others.
He sings regularly with La Cetra Vokalensemble und Barockorchester (Andrea Marcon), La Morra (Corina Marti und Michal Gondko), Thélème (Jean-Christophe Groffe), Basler Madrigalisten (Raphael Immoos), Le Miroir de Musique (Baptiste Romain), Ensemble Gilles Binchois (Dominique Vellard), the concert series ReRenaissance and others.
He has taken part in masterclasses with Andreas Scholl, Margreet Honig, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Dominique Visse, Christoph Prégardien, Alessandro de Marchi, Adriana Fernandez and Nicolau de Figueiredo.
Ivo is very active as a soloist and ensemble singer in the fields of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Music.
Whenever he needs a break from the highly demanding intellectual confrontation with historical sources, he goes into the woods or finds peace on the top of a mountain.
